Reitz voted to give himself (and Springfield politicians) a taxpayer-funded pay raise …1
…despite high unemployment and struggling small businesses.
Nathan Reitz loves spending money. He loves it so much that he cheerfully voted to raise taxes on Illinois’ hardworking middle class almost as soon as he took office.2
Money is how he became friends with Speaker Mike Madigan. So far, Reitz has received over $50,000 from Madigan and the groups he controls.3 In exchange, Reitz keeps his mouth shut.
As long as he gets Madigan’s money, Reitz will stay silent. Despite federal investigations and allegations of sexual misconduct in Madigan’s political operation, Reitz refuses to speak up.4
Corrupt money runs in the Reitz family. Reitz was appointed to office as part of a secret backroom deal involving his lobbyist father so Reitz could vote in favor of legislation benefiting his father’s clients. In return, his father’s clients have steered Reitz thousands in campaign cash.5
After serving in Desert Storm, David put himself through college. He understands and respects the value of a dollar—so why can’t Illinois politicians?
David knows that higher taxes on us won’t fix our budget. First, we have to get corrupt politicians out of office. Then, we need to rein in reckless spending.
